Stool
Spring 2025
Design and build a functional, lightweight, and visually compelling stool that balances form and function while adhering to strict guidelines for size, weight, and usability.

I started this project by taking inspiration from warm, inviting, clean living spaces. I spent a lot of time observing how I could incorporate the soft qualities of these spaces into my own design. I also was inspired by the texture and softness of quilted fabric.
I used the CNC to cut out every piece except for the supports between the legs; I used the bandsaw to cut the supports out. I drilled holes for the dominoes, clamped and glued everything together, and I used a sewing machine to quilt the fabric, gluing that on afterwards. While I had difficulty aligning my pieces for joining, I learned a lot throughout this process.
